Principovac is the most picturesque and important wine production region in eastern Croatia; it lies close to the Danube, a position favourable to the creation of superbly-balanced, aromatic wines. This Traminac promises significant longevity, up to 7-9 years. The grape variety is challenging to grow, and does not easily produce a well-balanced wine, but this version, from the modest-sized Principovac appellation, is a veritable cru wine, thanks to its terroir and local weather conditions.
It will give its best partnered with savoury, well-spiced dishes, for example risotto with mushrooms or truffles. It is wonderful with lightly smoked cheeses and with baked or roasted lighter meats.
