This generous wine is made from 54% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, and lesser amounts of Malbec and Cabernet Franc, and aged 18 months in large French oak ovals.
Its deep, near-opaque hue promises a wine of superb balance and proportion. Eighteen months in oak barrels leave a rich but stylish trace on the nose, which segues into generous draughts of ripe red berryfruit. The plate is velvet-textured, supple, and appealingly dense, well supported by fine-grained tannins.
It is the ideal partner with slow-cooked meat dishes, such as braises and stews.
Best served after decanting.
